Recitation taught by the rules that govern it: where each letter is formed, when a sound lengthens, when it merges, and when it stops. The teacher hears you read every lesson and corrects as you go.

Who is this course for?

Students who can already read the script and want their recitation to be correct rather than approximate.

What you will learn

  • Produce each letter from its correct makhraj, including the letters commonly confused
  • Apply noon saakin, meem saakin, and the rules of idgham, ikhfa, iqlab and izhar
  • Hold the madd for its proper count without over-lengthening
  • Stop and start at the right places using the waqf marks

  1. Assessment of current recitation and a note of recurring errors
  2. Makharij: the articulation points, practised letter by letter
  3. Sifaat: the qualities that distinguish similar letters
  4. The rules of noon and meem saakin, applied to real verses
  5. Madd, waqf and the fine points, with weekly recitation review

What you get at the end

A written progress report each month, shared with the parent or student.

Questions about this course

Is Tajweed necessary or is reading enough?
Reading the Arabic correctly is itself Tajweed at its most basic. The rules exist to stop pronunciation drifting in ways that change meaning, which is why scholars treat learning them as an obligation on the reciter.
Can I take this if my reading is slow?
Yes, as long as you can read. Slow reading is easier to correct than fast, careless reading.
